Use the cash drawer

Open and close the till session so cash in the drawer can be counted against expected cash.

In aPOS Daily OPS → Cash Drawer

What this is

Cash Drawer is one till session: opening float, cash sales, cash due collections, and a close count.

Sales mix and cash in the drawer are different:

  • Cash sales = cash received on invoices created this session.
  • New Due = this session’s invoices left unpaid. That is credit created, not cash in the drawer.
  • Due collected = older customer balances paid during this session. That can put cash in the drawer without increasing Total Sale.
  • Expected in drawer = opening + cash sales + cash due collected. This is a check figure only.

When you would use it

Start of day (or shift) before cash sales, and at close when you count notes.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Daily OPS → Cash Drawer.
  2. Open a session with the cash already in the drawer.
  3. Take sales as usual on Sale New. Collecting an old due can add cash without changing Total Sale.
  4. At close, count cash. The page shows expected vs counted. A difference does not rewrite the books.
  5. Enter take-out after the count. Take-out is not part of expected cash.

Good to know

Card, BML, and Transfer sales do not go into the drawer. Transfer or card due collections also do not. Ordinary expenses stay a separate EOD line and are not subtracted from expected cash. You cannot open two drawers at once for the same till.
