Share a table between different customers

What this is

Table Sharing lets registered customers sit at the same physical table and pay separately. Each customer gets a normal aPOS sale, GST, payment, due, and history. Guest bills are not allowed in shared mode.

The setting is off by default. Turning it on only makes Split by customer available — it does not change existing tables.

Steps

1. Enable Restaurant Table Sharing in Settings → General.
2. Open a restaurant table on Sale New.
3. Tap Split by customer.
4. Add at least two registered customers.
5. Tap a customer's name, then add their items. The item list shows only that customer's items, and their card updates with the running count and amount.
6. Tap another name to switch. Their own items appear.
7. If you added the wrong person with no items, tap Remove. When only two customers remain and one has not ordered, removing them returns the table to a normal single-customer order.
8. If they already have items, tap Change and pick the correct customer. The items stay on that bill.
9. Pay each customer independently (cash, card, transfer, split tender, or due).
10. The table stays occupied until every customer bill is finalized. A due sale counts as finalized.

Reading the customer list

• All customers shows the whole table at a glance. You cannot add items in this view — tap a name first.
• Each name shows that customer's item count and what they owe, including GST.
• A finalized bill shows Closed — including when the sale went to Dues with Transfer selected (not only when cash was received).
• Clear Order on a shared table empties only the selected customer's items. It does not touch anyone else.

Notes

• Split payment on the till is still split tender (cash + card) on one customer bill — not table sharing.
• BML Gateway is not a cashier button. Send an unpaid named bill as today.
• When you Split by customer on a table that already has items, those items stay on whoever opened the table.
• A shared table always needs at least two customers while split mode is active. To fix the wrong pair, use Change, not Remove — unless the extra person has not ordered yet.
• Shared tables must stay online. If the connection drops, aPOS says so and stops accepting new items for that table until it is back — nothing is silently queued.
• If someone edits the same table on another device, aPOS reloads the latest table instead of overwriting their work.
• Landing-page marketing waits until this is production-proven.
