What this is
Customer Ordering is the public guest menu. The same catalogue, GST, and kitchen ticket as the till. It does not replace Create Sale.
Two channels share this screen:
- Online ordering — pickup or delivery from your public address (
yourshop.openapos.com). - QR table ordering — restaurants only. The printed table QR opens the menu for that seat.
Before you start
- Publish at least one product for the public menu (Sell products online).
- Choose a public shop address (slug).
- Turn on at least one of pickup or delivery, and at least one payment method.
- Restaurants: add floor tables, tap Enable QR, print the codes, and (recommended) pin the outlet for presence.
Step-by-step
- Open Settings → Customer Ordering.
- Complete the remaining checklist items. aPOS will not let a channel go live until they are done.
- If the till has products but the public menu is empty, tap Use the till menu to mark every sellable item Available online. You can still turn items off later on Products.
- Turn Online ordering on for pickup/delivery. Turn QR table ordering on for dine-in QR.
- Optional: Pause online orders (browse only) stops new online orders without taking the menu down. Table QR is unchanged.
- Optional: Show only today’s available Daily Prep items. When on, guests only see products on today’s open Daily Prep with quantity left. Categories marked Always show online (drinks, made-to-order) still appear. If Daily Prep is missing or closed, only those categories stay on the guest menu.
What guests pay
Guests must choose how they will pay. Cash and Bank transfer are paid later at pickup or delivery. Online payment (BML) becomes available only after staff accept the order — not at Place order.
Good to know
- Tills do not change when you turn these channels off.
- Staff accept, decline, or propose changes from Online Orders.
- Role permissions: Online Orders, Accept online orders, and Online order alerts.
